SIPELEM Success Story

SIPELEM specializes in the development, “Made in France” manufacturing, installation, and on-site maintenance of industrial trolleys used primarily in the aviation, rail transport, and logistics sectors. These trolleys are available in various designs: welded steel profiles, assembled aluminum profiles, and assembled lean tubes. They are used as line-side trolleys, order-picking trolleys, or production and logistics trolleys.

To transport aircraft spare parts, an internationally active company in the aviation industry approached our customer to develop suitable trolleys for transporting these sensitive and high-value parts. Among other things, the carts move on floor-mounted guide rails with a width of 55 mm. Therefore, the casters must be equipped with sufficiently wide treads. Another requirement was to transport the carts in aluminum containers for use at various production sites. Each container holds three carts, which must remain stable during transport since they are loaded with sensitive aviation parts. A final requirement was the use of non-marking (abrasion-resistant) treads.

In collaboration with the company BLICKLE, our customer developed a transport cart equipped with four L-GEV 180K-TM13-SG swivel casters featuring a dead-man’s brake system. This system is based on a drum brake with an integrated spring and ensures automatic locking of the cart during transport inside the container. The cart can only be moved when the operator activates a handle that unlocks all four casters simultaneously via a sophisticated system of cables and connecting rods. This release mechanism is accessible from both sides of the cart and ensures ergonomic and safe handling. With regard to the floor-mounted guide rails, the casters are equipped with a widened 75 mm tread, which prevents jamming when rolling over the rails.

SIPELEM is completely satisfied with the high-value-added mobility solution offered by BLICKLE. The carts are perfectly secured during transport in the containers. At the same time, they can be moved easily and safely on the floors of the major airline—even when traversing the guide rails.
